Gary’s expertise consists of a broad spectrum of utility business activities including electrical system design, engineering services, and the management/supervision of construction, maintenance and operations of electrical distribution systems with large number of personnel and significant budgets ($20M+).

Gary came to EnerNex after nearly 10 years of private consulting. Most recently, he consulted with ENCO Utility Services in the establishment of the City of Winter Park, Florida’s electric utility operations. An entire Electric Utility Business Unit has been established including all facets of the supporting business process such as personnel, design, operations, safety, GIS support and the creation of all supporting manuals, documents and processes. Additionally, his responsibilities have included the design and development of an “in house” work management system that employs the major components of work management including, contract, work order creation, management, posting, scheduling, close-out and material management.

He has consulted with Duke Engineering Services and Arizona Pipeline for electrical distribution engineering, primarily for highway relocation and underground to overhead conversion projects. He has provided data analysis and clean-up support to NSTAR Electric in support of their GIS Conversion and Outage Management initiatives for the James Sewall Company.

He provided services for Logica, as a system implementer, for NSTAR’s GIS Conversion Project. His responsibilities included extensive involvement in the details of data conversion and business process issues affecting electrical operations and engineering. Activities also included process re-engineering in support of on-going data maintenance and data integrity associated with GIS.

Previously, Gary worked at Southern California Edison for 30 years. There, his responsibilities as project manager included the design, development and implementation of an automated Outage Management System (OMS) for “Trouble-call and Electrical System Dispatch,” and managing a concurrent effort to digitize more than 3,500 Feeder Maps for inclusion into the OMS.

His extensive electric utility business process experience includes electrical system design, planning and automation; maintenance and inspection processes; distribution system operations; business process analysis and engineering; and business case development including funding, contract negotiation and technical specification development.
