EnerNex Corporation Wins GridWeek Recognition for Innovation in Grid Modernization WASHINGTON, April 26, 2007— EnerNex Corporation was honored by GridWeek and the U.S. Department of Energy for Innovation in Implementation and Deployment in grid modernization on Wednesday, April 25 at the recognition reception and dinner held during GridWeek 2007. EnerNex, an electric power research, engineering and consulting company, received this recognition for its industry wide involvement in grid modernization and the innovative approach to systems engineering, vendor engagement and external engagement with the industry that provided a position in the marketplace for the next generation of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) systems. Based largely on the EPRI IntelliGrid Architecture, which EnerNex helped to develop and implement, EnerNex has become well-recognized for their role in grid modernization. According to EnerNex co-founder and Chief Technology Officer Erich Gunther, the award validates EnerNex’s systems engineering and architecture development methodology. “This award recognizes our vision and ability to develop and deliver the most innovative solutions, including our recent involvement with Southern California Edison’s AMI program,” said Gunther. “This recognition reinforces our commitment to grid modernization and desire to meet the increasing need for solutions that enable a large-scale utility communications infrastructure to work and be positioned for growth.” “We believe innovation and facilitation are the drivers of establishing the next generation of grid modernization,” added Jeff Lamoree, President for EnerNex. “We are honored to be recognized for our involvement.” EnerNex is a leading expert on the implementation of AMI and other utility automation systems, which is attracting increased attention within the electric power industry, driven partly by a provision in the U.S. Energy Policy Act of 2005 mandating state regulatory bodies examine the feasibility of establishing time-based electricity pricing programs and implementing advanced metering necessary to support such programs. Many electric power providers and system operators are designing, implementing and utilizing AMI because of its key role in facilitating demand response and load control, automation of meter reading, customer connection/disconnection and outage reporting and location. EnerNex provides engineering and consulting services, along with software solutions and customization, for energy producers, distributors, users and research organizations.
