Jeff has been involved in power system engineering, consulting and research and development work for more than 10 years. These activities have included the development of monitoring system tools and applications. Prior to co-founding EnerNex, Jeff was the Vice President and General Manager of the Knoxville office of Electrotek Concepts®. There he was responsible for the technical management and business development of the Knoxville practice lines as well as the overall operation of the office. EnerNex Corporation names Erich Gunther Chairman and CTOThe EnerNex board of directors unanimously voted to appoint Erich W. Gunther as Chairman of the Board and Chief Technology Officer of EnerNex Corporation. Erich is internationally recognized for playing a leading role in the design and development of innovative solutions to a wide array of power system problems for over 20 years. Most recently, he has been finding unique and cost effective ways to take advantage of today's communications networks to improve the efficiency, operating practices, and security of the electric power system. Erich is responsible for defining the strategic direction of EnerNex's internal R&D, technology, and product development as well as providing similar services for EnerNex clients. Erich is a member of a team working to develop a communications architecture to support the next generation of electric utility communication needs - the IntelliGrid Architecture. Prior to co-founding EnerNex, Erich was the Vice President of Technology and Information Systems Development at Electrotek Concepts in Knoxville, Tennessee. There he was responsible for the development of hardware, software and systems technologies for use in products, research, and engineering studies. Since joining Electrotek in 1988 he had been involved in the transient and harmonic measurement, simulation and analysis of power systems for industrial, commercial, utility and research organization clients. He was also involved in the application of various communication technologies in the utility industry. EnerNex Corporation names Bob Zavadil Vice President and Principal ConsultantThe EnerNex board of directors unanimously voted to appoint Bob Zavadil as Vice President and Principal Consultant of EnerNex Corporation. Bob has over twenty years experience with advanced modeling and simulation tools for electric power systems, which he routinely uses in his consulting engagements to provide a comprehensive technical and analytical foundation for advice and recommendations to clients. Bob is responsible for developing and overseeing EnerNex’s power system engineering and consulting business. Bob is a nationally recognized expert in electric power system issues for wind generation. His clients in the wind generation industry range from turbine designers and manufacturers to project developers and operators, along with transmission service providers and independent transmission system operators. He has extensive experience with new and emerging technologies for electric power generation, delivery, and utilization, including distributed generation and power electronics-based equipment. Prior to co-founding EnerNex, Bob was a Senior Consultant at Electrotek Concepts. in Knoxville, Tennessee. EnerNex joins team designing a next generation utility communications architectureEnerNex is part of a team of experts working to design a next generation utility communications architecture to support the future growth and increased reliability of the electric power system. EnerNex personnel are providing expertise in the consumer interface aspect of such a system. This includes describing how the utility communications infrastructure could/should interface with customer facilities such as building automation systems, industrial and residential loads, metering, and other devices and applications. EnerNex is also providing domain expertise in general power system operation control and measurement, wind power systems, distributed generation, and power quality. EnerNex personnel have been involved in the requirements gathering, stakeholder identification and engagement, and public information and education aspects of similar projects in the past and are bringing that expertise to the project team as well. Jack King and Sandy Smith join EnerNex CorporationEnerNex is pleased to announce that Jack King has joined the company as a Consulting Engineer. Jack was previously a Consulting Engineer with Electrotek Concepts, and was a principal developer for the Dranetz-BMI Signature SystemTM and the PASS® software used with Dranetz-BMI 8010 PQNode® instruments. Sandy Smith joins EnerNex as Manager, Marketing and Business Development. He was previously Marketing Manager for Electrotek Concepts, responsible for business development, marketing communications, proposal coordination, and technology transfer. Erich Gunther Appointed to IEC Technical Advisory and Working GroupsErich Gunther was recently appointed to serve as a member of the US National Committee Technical Advisory Group for IEC TC 77a. He has also been appointed by the IEEE Power Quality Standards Coordinating Committee SCC-22 to serve as a member of IEC TC77a, Working Group 9 on power quality monitoring as their representative. The USNC TAG is responsible for initiating and approving U.S. proposals for New Work and Maintenance Items for consideration by IEC TC77a (low frequency conducted phenomena), initiate and approve U.S. working drafts for submittal to the IEC for consideration as draft proposals, and establish U.S. consensus positions on an IEC New Work Item Proposal (NP), Working Draft (WD), Committee Draft (CD), Committee Draft for Vote (CDV), Final Draft International Standard (FDIS), and other appropriate IEC documents. Ordinarily, IEC TC working group members are appointed by individual countries' national committees. Recently, the IEEE SCC-22 and IEC TC 77a agreed to make a seat available in each TC77a working group to technical experts appointed by SCC-22. Erich was appointed by SCC-22 to fill this position on working group 9 on power quality measurement. The next meeting of the USNC TAG is in Philadelphia on January 12-13, and the next meeting of WG 9 is March 22-23 in Graz, Austria. Erich Gunther Named to GridWise Alliance Architecture CouncilErich Gunther was selected to join the Architecture Council for the GridWise Alliance, a public-private partnership dedicated to bringing the U.S. energy system into the 21st century. Comprised of a diverse group of companies and organizations, the Alliance brings together key stakeholders and works to identify and resolve the challenges associated with implementing the GridWise Vision. The Alliance also acts as a resource for the U.S. Department of Energy, the Office of Electric Transmission and Distribution, and other interested parties.
