KNOXVILLE, Tenn., Jan. 14, 2008— EnerNex Corporation has began work to assist Entergy in evaluating options for possible deployment of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI). The company is assisting Entergy in the evaluation of their AMI Pilot Project Plan, evaluating implementation plans and making recommendations for AMI, demand response and smart grid planning.

This evaluation will provide the necessary support to specify, deploy and implement AMI to Entergy’s customers. AMI has attracted increased attention within the electric power industry in an effort to modernize and develop a more intelligent and reliable electric power system. Regulatory bodies are examining the feasibility of establishing conservation-based electricity pricing programs and implementing the smart metering necessary to support such pricing programs.

According to EnerNex Chief Technology Officer Erich W. Gunther, EnerNex will leverage experience and methodologies developed during similar projects with Southern California Edison, Consumers Energy and BC Hydro, as well as, during the development of the EPRI IntelliGrid Architecture and involvement in the UtilityAMI organization while assisting with developing plans for AMI pilot implementation.
