Travis Smith Joins EnerNex Corporation

Knoxville, Tenn., March 27, 2006 - Travis Smith has joined as a Consulting Engineer supporting EnerNex's work in transmission simulation and modeling, protection and control.  Smith previously worked at Southern Company in the Transmission and Protection Control Group and worked for the Tennessee Valley Authority in Protection and Control, Substation Engineering.

According to EnerNex president Jeff Lamoree, Smith is a key addition to EnerNex's power systems practice. "He tremendously increases our power systems engineering simulation and study group capabilities by adding significant system protection expertise as well as a solid overall power system understanding obtained during his time working at Southern and TVA. We’re very pleased to have Travis coming on board and look forward to having him join our system studies team."

While at Georgia Power Company, Travis designed relaying and control systems for transmission and distribution lines, substations, and generating plant switchyards. He provided consulting services and technical support to the Georgia Power Transmission Engineering and Construction Group and the Georgia Integration Transmission System Partners. He reviewed transmission system operations compared with system models and developed several new designs by replacing existing electromechanical schemes with equivalent and improved PLC or microprocessor based relays.

At TVA Travis designed and supported new and existing installations of protective relaying schemes, automatic fault sectionalizing schemes for TVA and customer substation facilities. He also worked with lead engineers to design and support new and existing telecommunications installations including revenue and interchange metering and SCADA systems.

He is a 2001 graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and a Senior Member of the IEEE Power Engineering Society.
