Utilities, Reliability Councils and Independent System Operators

Electric utilities are gathering data from a variety of sources and devices. Generally, these databases are not coupled or loosely coupled at best. In addition, many older systems are proprietary in nature making the integration and correlation of data very difficult. Additionally, many systems only provide data and lots of it. The need exists to be able to integrate these various databases and data sources as well to generate meaningful information from this data.

Reliability councils and ISOs are also entering the systems integration fray. For example, in New York, participating in the Emergency Demand Response Program requires the development of a secure website that can display in real-time the operation of backup generation in support of the utility grid. Detailed post analysis of energy delivered is also required in order to generate payments. This requires data acquisition, analysis and presentation and in the future, will also require direct interface with the ISO themselves. EnerNex® Corporation as the expertise to supply the following services to electric utilities, reliability councils and ISOs:

  • Data acquisition, analysis and presentation over secure web-sites from a variety of monitoring instruments
  • Remote device operation and control such as generator startup and shutdown
  • Advanced algorithm development from raw data such as event analysis and/or direction
  • Database capabilities to integrate and correlate data with other data sources such as lightning
