Bill Moncrief joined EnerNex in the winter of 2008 as a Consulting Engineer. His experience in utility operations and at EPRI makes him an asset to the EnerNex family. He’s a registered Professional Engineer in Georgia and Florida. Bill worked at Georgia Power for 22 years in a variety of positions. He was a field engineer in protection and operations, and became the assistant chief protection engineer. He was responsible for all system protection in the distribution, transmission and generation areas. Bill was the original manager of Georgia Power’s Enhanced Power Quality operation, providing special electric service to critical customers. He served as a project manager for the Georgia Power Research Center, now operating as NEETRAC of Georgia Tech. Bill was a project manager for EPRI. He developed and managed power quality projects for electric utilities throughout the United States and across the globe. He worked with utilities in Bangkok, Taipei, Mumbai (Bombay), Warsaw, and Manila. He had extensive experience with utilities in Europe and sessions at the European Union. Bill received a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (BEE) from Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Georgia. He also earned an MSEE in power systems whit minors in Computer science and nuclear engineering from Georgia Tech, with post graduate work in nuclear engineering. Presently, he is on the staff of the music department at Georgia Tech. He belongs to Mensa and is active in IEEE. He is the chair of the Power Engineering Society’s harmonics working group, the vice-chair of the IEEE Standards Coordinating Committee on power quality and serves on the US National Committee/IEC. He participates in a number ofnational and international standards activities. He is an associate editor for IEEE Transactions on Power Distribution. |
