David joined EnerNex as the Director of System Studies in early 2012. He is a broadly experienced electric power engineering consultant who delivers value to clients through troubleshooting of electrical problems, power system engineering analysis, and expert technical seminars. He performs consulting projects through careful evaluation of client’s needs, by developing project proposals, and careful execution of engineering analysis.
David is an accomplished speaker on technical subjects and is known nationally for his seminars on electrical power quality. He has an uncanny ability to explain complex technical subjects to both technical and non-technical audiences. David has written dozens of technical papers and articles on power quality and has given over hundreds of presentations on these topics. He has presented these subjects in about 100 different cities, and has worked in over 30 different states in the U.S.
Internationally, he has presented power quality in Mexico, Canada, England, Ireland, Spain, Holland, Columbia, Czech Republic, Sweden, Bulgaria, Brazil, Indonesia, Malaysia, China, Philippines, and Singapore.
For over 20 years he has worked on a wide variety of power system projects to study and solve power quality problems for industrial, commercial, and utility clients. Recent projects have been for data centers, mines, steel plants, chemical processing facilities, large wind and solar power plants, and plastics plants.
Prior to joining EnerNex, David managed Power Quality Projects and Studies for Electrotek Concepts in Knoxville, Tennessee. Dave worked on electric power problems on “both sides of the meter” as he has also performed many projects for electric utilities.
In 1993-1995 he lived in Nottingham, England, starting the Power Quality Services group for East Midlands Electricity. At that time he developed the 10-volume set, “Power Quality Training Manuals.”
In 1998-2001 he assisted PowerGrid Ltd. in Singapore to develop their power quality capabilities. He has also consulted with utilities in the USA, China, Malaysia, and Canada to build their power quality technical capabilities.
Before his days at Electrotek, David was employed for eight years by General Motors, working as a project engineer on a variety of facilities and automation controls projects. While working at GM he won a Corporate Energy Conservation Award.
