The IEEE Power & Energy Society announced the 2022 Erich Gunther Future Power Innovator Scholarship Recipient: Christopher Peralta, Iowa State University.
Christopher was awarded a scholarship to assist in his education expenses and will be presented with a congratulatory plaque at the upcoming 2023 IEEE ISGT, North America (ISGT NA) Conference in Washington DC.
“We are impressed with Christopher’s accomplishments thus far and look forward to great things from him in the future. Erich was a co-founder of EnerNex, my business partner and a good friend, ” said Jeff Lamoree, EnerNex President and CEO. “He would have definitely approved of Christopher’s application. Erich had many passions and one in particular was to pass along knowledge and to make sure young people like Christopher were going into and making a difference in the electric power engineering field. If he were still here, he would have certainly been impressed by his qualifications and especially his tenacity.”
Upon receiving the award, Christopher stated: “I am honored to receive the 2022 IEEE PES Erich Gunther Future Power Innovator Scholarship. I read Erich’s biography, and I am aware of the great things he did for the power system field. One of my life goals is to make significant contributions in our area, especially now with the high penetration of variable renewable sources, as Erich did.”
