05jun[WI-SUN Alliance Webinar] How Field Area Networks Benefit Smart Utilities and Smart Cities

more

Event Details

EnerNex VP Jeremy Laundergan is a panelist on this upcoming Wi-Sun Alliance webinar.

Smart cities and utility networks are more similar than you’d think, sharing many common communication requirements and supported by a common networking architecture. Field Area Networks (FANs) are becoming a vital component in the creation of smart cities. For example, Intelligent street lighting–deployed using a canopy mesh networks–enables a range of additional services such as citywide traffic management and parking systems, and provides reliable, FAN deployments to communicate mission-critical, real-time information. Smart Cities can leverage the existing wireless communications infrastructure provided by AMI or streetlight networks to enable other applications such as smart signals, public transit signs, parking spaces, electric vehicle charging stations and more. Alternatively, Smart City networks using a FAN network can be built and then modified to support Smart Utility applications later. Hear directly from utilities on how they’re benefiting from using FAN networks.
