Microgrids & DERS Post Summit Report

by | Oct 17, 2018 | Grid Modernization, Resource

Distributed Energy Resources (DER) and Microgrids are very significant innovations and applications that will have both a short-term and long-term impact on the electric industry. Recently, Roosevelt Strategic Council held a comprehensive Summit in Alexandria VA, where these topics were discussed among industry leaders, influencers, regulators, providers and end users in a nonpartisan, educational ‘Town Hall’ forum.

During the course of this two day event held in September 25– 26 of 2018, a number of significant topics were explored. While the forum was closed to press and non attribution, the content of this report is derived from the summaries of comments and discussions that occurred during the event. The report was made possible by the support of EnerNex.

This call to action post summit report is designed to provide the energy community at large with:

  • A broad stroke summary of several of the key subject areas discussed during the Summit codifies into ‘findings’
  • Offer perspective on these issues
  • Present a number of call to action items that need further consideration and continued dialogue

While each of the key findings in this report represent specific points of interest, it is important for the reader to understand that these are points on a continuum of an evolutionary journey.
